The 10 priority sectors innovation is required and can better be improved in the Gauteng province as stipulated by the Gauteng Provicial Government are; Automotive, Cannabis, Construction, Cultural, Energy, Financial, Food & beverage, ICT, Logistics and Tourism. 

The GiO takes as its premise that there is much to be learnt not only from in-depth investigations of important topics from the 10 priority industry sectors but from the multiplicity of human minds at work and the complex understanding that arises from the interconnected contemplation of their ideas. This innovation observatory project puts the end user in the drivers seat to empower and assist critical thinking. It lets visitors to this portal, build and augment their understanding by freely navigating the archive of information of various formats and enable all and sundry to submit innovation ideas. Users can contact the observatory to input innovations, ideas, suggest and comment on a myriad of topics.
